I got a nice surprise in my inbox today. The first draft of the Chasing Rumor layout. Seeing the PDF of the pages makes the project feel like its getting close to completion…and it is. Included in the layout was my first look at Andrew Holder's artwork for the book. Some of the illustrations looked close to completion and others were still pencil sketches. He uses lots of color and geometric design in his images. They're a fun addition to the stories and I'm looking forward to seeing how Andrew finishes the rest of the sketches. I've got a couple weeks to give it another read through and look for corrections, after that its off to the publisher. Still looking at an early May release so get your preorder copy now!
Last March Patagonia sent me to Patagonia with longtime friend and filmmaker Chelsi Moy. We set out to create a video that brought out a sliver of the essence of my book, Chasing Rumor: A Season Fly Fishing Patagonia. I couldn't be happier with the finished product. While capturing the incredible scenery of Patagonia, it also captures a few of its amazing characters. Richard Amiejieras and Jorge Trucco, two of Patagonia's earliest guides and men instrumental in shaping the culture of fly fishing in Patagonia. Their passion, enthusiasm, and general good nature come through so strongly that its almost like being with them. So if you can't make it down to fish with them this year, this video is a close second, and a great teaser for longer stories about these great characters and many others. Enjoy.
